Stone Brewing 24 Carrot Golden Ale

Each year Stone Brewing Company hosts a homebrewing competition sanctioned by the American Homebrewers Association. The competition comes with the grand prize of the winner’s beer being brewed and bottled by Stone and distributed across the country. This year 27 beers were entered and tasted by representatives from Stone Brewing including co-founders Steve Wagner and Greg Koch. Last year, the winning beer was brewed by Chris Banker and was called Xocoveza, a milk stout brewed with chocolate, cinnamon, nutmeg, chile pepper and coffee. The beer was brewed to resemble a Mexican hot chocolate and instantly became a cult hit. This year’s winner follows a similar path in the fact that it is an unconventional beer. Winner Juli Goldenberg brewed a carrot cake-inspired Belgian golden ale with carrots, cinnamon, raisins and vanilla beans that will be released later this year.
