In more wholesome AI news, student researchers have used the technology to decipher previously unreadable 2,000-year-old scrolls that were buried after the eruption of Mount Vesuvius. The group trained a machine-learning algorithm to discover the new-to-us text that is said to discuss things like music and capers (how Italian). This effort is a huge step forward in getting to know more about the previously unknowable corners of the ancient world.
