Earlier in the week we talked about Apple’s $3,500 Vision Pro headsets making it into the hands of consumers. Now we’re learning of numerous incidents of people driving cars while wearing the headsets. Oh, and they’re posting about it on social media (as one does). Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg took to X to remind drivers that must pay attention to the road, even in a self-driving Cyber Truck. We’ll add to Mayor Pete’s rebuke with a kind reminder of our own: just because you can do something doesn’t mean you should.

Today we’re taking a look at a flexy field jacket, a Harry & David gift box and a new pillow. This is Today in Gear.

Flint and Tinder Stretch Ripstop Waxed Field JacketHuckberry

A Stretchy Wax Jacket

From Flint and Tinder, the Stretch Ripstop Waxed Field Jacket ($198) is the first jacket in the brand’s Waxed Outerwear collection and offers the best of both worlds: a weather-resistant waxed canvas finish and the flexibility and freedom provided by a little bit of stretch. The jacket is lined with blanket flannel for next-to-skin comfort and waist and chest pockets add a vintage look and a bit of extra convenience. The Field Jacket comes in Khaki and Fatigue, which is an army green.

Harry & David boxes are classic for a reason. Who doesn’t like receiving a luxury box of fun and tasty treats? We’re partial to the aptly named Tower of Treats Valentine’s Day Gift ($60) which comes with six decadent Royal Riviera pears, dark chocolate popcorn, chocolate-covered cherries, dark chocolate truffles and buttercream heart-shaped cookies.

The Gift of Good Sleep

The gift of good sleep is a truly invaluable one, but it could be yours for less than $200 (or, ahem, you could get it for that special someone ahead of Valentine’s Day next week). The DreamLayer Pillow ($159) from the beloved mattress brand Purple has been making waves. The MicroAir Foam conforms to your head and the GelFlex Grid offers up the cooling that everyone wants. Sleep on the DreamLayer for 100 nights, and if you don’t love it, you can return it for a full refund.

From the brand that brought you the origami kayak, Oru Kayak is bringing its skills out of the water and into the furniture world. Its new line of origami outdoor furniture just launched and is designed to bring functionality to everyday outdoor products. Made of abrasion-resistant corrugated plastic that’s durable up to 20,000 folds, Oru’s line is an interesting alternative to traditional portable outdoor furniture. The Switch Table ($149) can be a 29.5-inch prep table, but with two folds can transform into a 15.5-inch coffee table or a bench that can hold two people.
