Here’s one thing to look forward to: It’s an Olympic year. The athletes, on the other hand, have a little something to look forward to as well. Not only will they be competing to cement their place in history, but they’re also competing for a little piece of the Eiffel Tower. Each of the 5,000 medals for the 2024 Paris Olympics this summer will contain a polished piece of the 135-year-old Eiffel Tower. The tower undergoes routine maintenance that often involves cutting off old girders and bits, so after being painted and polished they began a new life inside Olympic medals. How is that for a prize?

Today we’re taking a look at a new sparking water flavor, a Ring doorbell and a tea set. This is Today in Gear.

Aura Bora Banana Bergamot sparkling waterAura Bora

Hello Banana Bergamot

Aura Bora has long been creating unexpected flavor combos for its sparking water from herbs, fruits and flowers, and they’ve just launched another new one: Banana Bergamot ($33 for 12 cans). We know what banana is, but bergamot? It’s a citrus fruit that provides a bit of tart lime-y flavor that yields a honey-vanilla vibe when paired with the ripe banana.

Clogs Are Back

For some, they never left. Not a convert yet? SeaVees just released its best-selling Bodega Clogs ($90) in three bright new colors: Fern, Bluebell and Azalea. The clogs are made of recycled rubber and have a beefy sole, so even though they’re slip ons, they’re ready for any terrain and any kind of weather. As an homage to the past, the clogs feature heritage webbing from the original SeaVees of the 60’s.

Ring’s New Battery Doorbell

Ring’s Battery Doorbell Pro ($230) builds on the brand’s existing cordless offering with 3D motion detection that uses radar rather than infrared sensing (i.e. it should be able to differentiate between a bush moving in the wind and a person). It can even show you where visitors went on an overhead map of your property. The doorbell has other great features like two-way talk, low light visibility, package detection and head-to-toe video. Pre-order the doorbell now and it will ship out in early March.

Discommon Goods Lowball tumblerDiscommon Goods

A High-End Tumbler

Do you need the Lowball 3.0 ($320) tumbler from Discommon Goods? At that price tag, probably not — but we want one anyway. Which is probably why it would make the perfect V-day gift. The Lowball is made of machine billet 6061 aluminum and each one is individually hand-finished giving the body a uniform satin appearance. Pro tip: With its high heat transfer, aluminum doesn’t like ice cubes. If you want a chilled beverage simply place the cup in the freezer beforehand.

Masha Tea CLASSIC HERBAL SETMasha Tea

A Classy Tea Trio

Sometimes you need to inject some excitement into your warm beverage scene. Try the Classic Herbal Set ($98) from Masha Tea. This made-in-New York tea trio includes Holy Basil, Love and Calm tea varieties. There’s also a cute note in the box that’s just for you. For the herbal teas, brew them for three to five minutes and enjoy. We recommend brewing up ‘Calm’ right before tucking into bed.
