The Prospex SPB051J1 is a reissue of Seiko’s first dive watch, the 6217, which originally debuted in 1965. The stainless steel case is 42.3mm in diameter with a thickness of 13.8mm. The dive watch has a curved sapphire crystal with an anti-reflective coating on the inner surface. LumiBrite on the hands and indices provide excellent readability, especially for a watch that is water-resistant up to 200 meters. The Prospex SPB051J utilizes Seiko’s in-house 6R15 automatic movement with manual winding capacity. Additional features include a screwed-down crown and unidirectional rotating bezel that are ideal for a dive watch but also help round the timepiece out as a great everyday wear.
