50 years ago today, Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin climbed down the steps of the Eagle lunar landing vehicle and became the first human beings to walk on the surface of the moon. It was a magnificent feat decades in the making and one that has continued to spur innovation and advancements ever since.
This momentous achievement would not have been possible without products. And not just any products, but superior pieces of gear like the Omega Speedmaster, Hasselblad cameras, and Zero Halliburton Technical Cases all played a pivotal role in that first moonwalk.
To celebrate 50 years of that “one giant leap for mankind,” a handful of brands have released limited edition items — including both a Speedmaster and a Hasselblad. The below eight items are a good compliment to a celebratory day.
Hasselblad 907X Special Edition

The Hasselblad 500 EL was the camera used for each of the Apollo missions, including Apollo 11. For that historic mission, three Hasselblads were taken along: a silver Hasselblad Data Camera (HDC), and two black Hasselblad Electric Cameras (HEC). To pay tribute, Hasselblad has built the 907X Special Edition that includes the 907X camera body and CFV II 50C digital back, both in matte black, just like the HEC that documented the Apollo 11 mission. The inscription “On the Moon Since 1969” commemorates the HDC and HEC that were left on the lunar surface 50 years ago, connecting Hasselblad’s photographic history into one lightweight, medium format package.
