Samsung announced its new flagship smartphones Galaxy S9/S9+ earlier this week — you can learn more about both, here — and now DxOMark, the industry standard for camera ratings, just gave the Galaxy S9+ (the larger of the two) the highest-ever rating for a smartphone camera.
In the company’s review, it concluded that the Samsung Galaxy S9+ “performs well across the board, delivering consistently good photo and video image quality in all light and shooting situations, thus earning itself our highest DxOMark Mobile score to date. Add one of the best smartphone zooms and a capable bokeh simulation mode to the mix, and the Galaxy S9+ is difficult to ignore for any photo-minded smartphone user.” It awarded the Samsung Galaxy S9+ with an overall 99 score, beating the Pixel 2 (98), iPhone X (97) and Galaxy Note 8 (94) to the top spot.
As a reminder, you can order the Galaxy S9 and S9+ tomorrow (March 2) and then expect it to ship March 16. The Galaxy S9 will cost $720 and the Galaxy S9+ will cost $840, and you can purchase “unlocked” versions (not tied to a carrier) of both from Samsung’s website. They will be available in three colors: lilac purple, midnight black and coral blue. Samsung is also offering a unique trade-in program where old Galaxy users can save up to $350.
