Armin Strom Are on their Game with the Skeleton Pure

Armin Strom has become known for its contemporary take on skeletonized watches that reveal the dramatic elements at work below. The company’s latest, the Skeleton Pure, builds on this theme within a white gold case sized at 43mm. The new watch features an open-worked movement, with gears and springs visible underneath rhodium-plated bridges.

Jaquet Droz Gives a Nod to the Age of Enlightenment

Jaquet Droz is using their Grand Seconde line to pay tribute to the Age of Enlightenment with their latest watch, the Grand Seconde Deadbeat. Its minimal dial is dominated by the large seconds hand, which makes its move once each second rather than sweeping along smoothly. The complication gives the watch its name, “Deadbeat,” and is rooted firmly in 18th-century timepieces.

Laurent Ferrier Reveals Autumn-Inspired Square Galet

Laurent Ferrier is adding some warmth to their Square Galet family with a new watch that features a sunburst gold-toned dial. The dial is distinguished not only by a soft golden color, but also by its vertical satin brushed finish. The real star of the show here resides within the 41mm case, the meticulously finished and classically designed Laurent Ferrier movement.

Moon Watch Sells for $1.6 Million at Auction

Last week, RR Auctions held their 2015 Space and Aviation auction, which saw everything from flight patches to altimeter and acceleration gauges crossing the block. Among the items was a Bulova chronograph watch that was worn on the moon by Astronaut Dave Scott during the Apollo 15 mission. After the crystal of his Omega popped off, Scott was forced to use his personal watch, the Bulova, for his final expedition on the lunar surface. As the Omega watches are officially recognized as government property, this leaves the Bulova as the only privately owned watch to be worn on the moon. The Bulova sold for $1,625,00 at the auction.
