The sixth month of 2009 proved to be a rainy one in New York, but that hardly put a damper on progress here at Gear Patrol; June turned out to be our best month, ever. Normally, I’d be writing the crew now, thanking them for their efforts, but it’s not only them I have to thank, but you – the Gear Patrol community.
This past month you’ve positively lit up with opinions and comments on our articles, including the nearly finished 30 Days of Upgrades (we got held back on a couple of days due to technical glitches). We were stoked to see that the series resonated so widely with you. You’ve really used the hell out of our email & share tools, especially the Open Forum option where you’ve submitted your own articles, many of which we’ve published this past month. We’re trying to figure out a way to say thanks back to the community, so make sure and send along any ideas, compliments, or concerns to sayhello @ gearpatrol.com. We read 100% of every inbound non-spam-filtered email, including the ones that say, “GP is mind-bogglingly slow, fix it for godssake!” or “WTF, you take nearly all the gear pictures yourselves?” or “More posts asap…” or the very common “Ben sucks at golf, I prefer my links advice from Patrick.” and even the straightforward “Use spell-check, bub.”
…we like to think we’re not so much mass media as we are personal media.
Trust me when I say the comments and tips you send resonate with us and provide fortitude for the work we put into Gear Patrol. We thrive on feedback and interactions, and you should know that the occasional thanks goes miles. When you take the time to contact us, we feel reciprocation is in order. You know, accessibility. Unlike many others, we like to think we’re not so much mass media as we are personal media – for dudes.
As a matter of fact, you should know that we talk daily about our avid community members and work to make considerations for the valid, non-anonymous comments you do share. It drives us harder to seek out better finds and to put together more articles to help better you and us as men – many ideas of which come from you via your comments, feedback, article submissions, or discussions with our editors via twitter. The more you voice your thoughts (without being a douchebag), the more you make an impact on us and your fellow man.
It’s been said many times before, but it’s worth saying again: Gear Patrol continues to be an evolving beast and, though we know there are a lot of awesome sites out there you could be reading (when’s the last time you really read a magazine?), we’re glad you choose ours. We, and especially I, just wanted to take a few seconds to say thanks for participating, being patient, evangelizing (retweets included), and helping keep a vigilant eye on what we’re doing.
