Wilson Audio is a Utah-based, luxury hi-fi manufacturer with a history dating back to the early 80s.

The company specializes in exquisitely designed, supremely priced loudspeakers — many of its models cost more than most cars (or even homes), with a pair of its flagship models, the Chronosonic XVX, commanding roughly $329,000.

This week, the company announced that, after five years, it is releasing new versions of the Sabrina, its smallest and most affordable floorstanding loudspeaker.

The Sabrina V is the next evolution of the company’s 2020-released Sabrina X. And at first glance, the two look quite similar — both are three-way, rear-ported floorstanding loudspeakers that stand just over three feet tall and demand at least 50 watts per channel.

That said, the new models have been almost completely overhauled with a new enclosure and updated drivers — some of which have been borrowed from its much higher-end, much more expensive loudspeakers — and thus promise to deliver a bigger, more refined sound.

A material upgrade

First up, a new cabinet design. The front baffle of the Sabrina V loudspeakers is made of a new proprietary material that Wilson Audio is calling H-Material.

This is a high-density composite that is similar to the Sabrina X’s X-Material, but is “slightly softer with different construction,” according to the brand. This helps the Sabrina V sound “more musical in the mid-range” compared to its predecessors.

A three-figure midrange driver

Wilson has given the Sabrina V loudspeakers quite the driver upgrade, too.

The standout is its new midrange driver. It’s the same 7-inch QuadraMag midrange driver that was initially developed for its flagship Chronosonic XVX ($320,0000) floorstanding loudspeakers.

This same midrange driver has since been featured in its other floorstanding loudspeaker lines, including the Alexx V ($135,000), Alexia V ($67,500), Sasha V ($51,000) and The WATT/Puppy ($39,500).

According to the brand, this QuadraMag driver “is renowned for its exceptional ability to settle and maintain linearity, resulting in greater depth and dimensionality.”

Trickle-down driver tech

The Sabrina V’s other drivers borrow technologies from the brand’s other higher-end loudspeakers, too.

It features a Convergent Synergy Carbon (CSC) tweeter that was originally developed for its Alexx V loudspeakers. According to the brand, this tweeter “delivers an astonishingly natural high-frequency response.”

And it features the same 8-inch woofer used in its Sasha V and The WATT/Puppy loudspeakers. Wilson says that this woofer has been chosen for its “agility and authority, resulting in bass that is articulate, textured, and intimately tied to the rhythm of the music.”

More refinements

Other than the new cabinet design and updated drivers, Wilson Audio gave the Sabrina V a few other refinements to improve performance.

The new loudspeakers have a redesigned rear bass port and midrange vent that the brand claims allow the loudspeaker to deliver “deeper, more natural low frequencies while filling your room with warmth and soundstage dimension.”

Wilson Audio has also integrated the bottom of the loudspeaker enclosure with V-Material, which promises enhanced vibration control and to improve the loudspeaker’s overall sound.

Price and availability

Wilson Audio has announced the Sabrina V, but the new floorstanding speakers won’t be available for purchase until July 3rd.

A pair of these new loudspeakers will set you back $28,000 — this is a pretty sizable step up from their predecessors, the Sarbina X, which can still be purchased for around $19,000/pair from authorized retailers.

The Sabrina V will come in five different finishes: Galaxy Gray, GT Silver, Quartz, Carbon and Pearl.
