A Respected Audio Brand Just Made Its Signature Speaker Even More Stylish

Tivoli Audio is a Boston-based audio manufacturer that has been around since the early 2000s. It’s well known for its beautiful and vintage-inspired wireless speakers and tabletop radios.

In 2023, the company released its largest portable Bluetooth speakers, the SongBook and SongBook Max, both of which looked like modern-day boomboxes.

To date, Tivoli Audio has only offered these portable Bluetooth speakers in two finishes, cream and brown or green. However, as of today, it’s adding two new stylish finishes to the mix.

Fresh styles

First, Tivoli Audio is now offering the SongBook and SongBook Max is an all-black — technically a black/black — matte finish. This is a colorway that, according to the brand’s CEO, Paul DePasquale, “adds a sense of rock n’ roll to the product line.”

Secondly, both speakers will be available in a navy blue finish with gold accents. According to the brand’s press release, the colorway “balances warmth, opulence, and sophistication. “

Same portable sound

Aside from new looks, both the SongBook and SongBook Max retain the same acoustics, capabilities, and technical specifications as before.

The SongBook is the smaller of the two. It’s a pretty straightforward portable Bluetooth speaker with numerous tactile knobs, sliders and switches for tweaking audio settings and turning the speaker on and off.

Additionally, it can be used as an external amplifier — say, if you have an external keyboard or electric guitar. It also features a 6.35mm jack, allowing you to connect it to your computer, MP3 player or turntable (as long as it has a built-in preamp).

The Max advantage

The SongBook Max is the bigger, fancier and more expensive of the two portable Bluetooth speakers. Aside from the size, it’s instantly recognizable because of its larger tuning knob and little digital display that tells what mode you’re using it in.

The SongBook Max has all the same capabilities as its smaller sibling, but also features a built-in FM radio (with an extendable antenna), which further enhances its old-school charm.

Price and availability

The new black/black and navy/gold colorways add style to the speakers, but don’t come at an extra cost — both SongBook and SongBook Max are priced exactly as before.

The SongBook and SongBook Max cost $450 and $600, respectively. Both new colorways are now available for order on Tivoli Audio’s website.
