While Technics is best known for its audiophile-grade turntables and other high-end hi-fi components, the revered Japanese manufacturer dabbles in the consumer audio space, as well.

Specifically, it makes a number of wireless headphones and wireless earbuds that range from relatively affordable to flagship-grade to compete with the high-end models by Sony, Bose and Apple.

Earlier this year, Technics introduced new flagship wireless earbuds, the EAH-AZ100, which deliver premium sound and pack powerful active noise-cancellation. And yes, they cost $300.

Fast forward six months, and now Technics is giving its new flagship wireless earbuds a subtle update as part of the brand’s 60th anniversary celebrations.

Champagne gold finish

Since its release, Technics has offered its flagship EAH-AZ100 wireless earbuds in two finishes, black or silver, but it’s introducing a third option to celebrate its six-decade history. That new finish is champagne gold.

It’s worth noting that the new colorway isn’t a special-edition version — instead, it’ll be a third option that Technics will now offer as a mainstay with the existing black or silver options.

Same new flagships

Other than the new champagne gold finish, these are the same EAH-AZ100 wireless earbuds as before.

They are Technics’ only wireless earbuds to fire its proprietary fluid magnetic drivers, which it first integrated into its $1,200 EAH-TZ700 wired in-ear monitors. They support spatial audio with dynamic head tracking and can play LDAC audio files (if your smartphone supports it).

They have other premium features that you’d expect in a flagship earbud, including a wireless charging case, top-notch ANC and transparency modes and support for new-age technologies like Bluetooth LE Audio and Auracast.
