Spotify has been on a bit of a heater lately.

In the last few weeks, the streaming giant has rolled out several new features to its app, including a convenient Snooze option and the ability to purchase audiobooks directly within the app.

And just this week, Spotify has updated its mobile app — for both iPhone and Android — with new features for those who use it to listen to podcasts.

First up: a Following feed for podcasts.

In the company’s latest blog post, Spotify stated that it recognizes people have found it challenging to locate the latest episodes of their favorite podcasts. So it’s introducing a new Following feed to solve just that.

The Podcasts Following feed is a dedicated section where you can find all the latest episodes of the Podcasts you following. Spotify describes it as an “all in one easy-to-access feed within your main Podcast feed on Home.”

Second, a new recommendations section.

Spotify wants to help you discover new podcasts, too, so it’s adding a new recommendations section right below your Shortcuts section on the Home screen. Spotify calls this “one of our top-requested features.”

According to the brand, in this section “you’ll start seeing recommendations for podcasts and video podcasts ready to be played or saved, making exploring new shows and episodes easier and more immersive.”

The “In this episode” section lets creators link out to other podcasts, songs and audiobooks that are mentioned in the podcast episode.

Third, Spotify is adding a new “In this episode” section.

This is a section where creators can add links to songs, playlists, and audiobooks — must be within Spotify — that are talked about in that podcast episode. Spotify says “it’s perfect for fans who want to dive deeper and for creators working across formats.”

You’ll be able to find this new “In this episode” section by going to the specific episode page and scrolling down.

And finally, Spotify is updating podcast comments. Specifically, it’s introducing threaded replies (and emoji reactions), which will hopefully make the comments section less unruly.

When’s it coming?

Spotify is rolling out the new features as we speak. You have access to several of them, including the new Following feed section, right now. Others, like the “In this episode” section, are expected to be available “in the coming weeks.”
