Sonos’s flagship soundbar, the Arc, has been around for over four years and looks set to be replaced. According to The Verge‘s Chris Welch, Sonos is gearing up to launch a new flagship soundbar before the end of this year. It’s codenamed “Lasso.”
This is big news because, since its release in June 2020, the Sonos Arc has been one of the best standalone Dolby Atmos soundbars available. It’s been so popular that competitors have seemingly copied it; in late 2021, Bose released its flagship soundbar, the Smart Soundbar 900, with similar specs and at the exact same price.
Sonos’s Next Flagship Soundbar: What We Know
Early images of the “Lasso” soundbar suggest that it will look very similar to Sonos’s current Arc — check out The Verge‘s article for the leaked photos. But according to Welch, the internals have been overhauled to help a similarly sized box deliver even bigger and more immersive sound.
In fact, the Lasso soundbar could be the first soundbar to use audio technologies from Mayht — a company Sonos acquired in 2022 — that, according to the press release, invented a revolutionary approach to audio transducers “to enable smaller and lighter form factors without compromising on quality.”

Most of the other details surrounding the Lasso soundbar are pretty vague. Welch suggests that it will support Bluetooth streaming — a feature no other Sonos soundbar supports, but Sonos’s most recent speakers, like the Era 100 and Era 300, do. There is expected to be a physical switch for disabling the soundbar’s built-in microphones, too.
