Today, NAD Electronics is one of the biggest names in high-end music streamers and streaming amplifiers – they’re beautiful audio components that bring high-resolution streaming capabilities to home hi-fi systems.

This week, the initially British, now Canada-based audio manufacturer, unveiled a new streaming amplifier as part of its Masters Series, the brand’s most elite-level components.

Meet the NAD M33 V2.

A new Master

The NAD M33 “V2” is the successor to the brand’s highly acclaimed NAD M33, which was released in 2020. It looks and works similarly to its predecessor, promising to deliver true audiophile sound and modern streaming capabilities.

Like its predecessor, the M33 V2 is a streaming amplifier that supports BluOS multi-room streaming — you can group it with any wireless speakers or audio components that support BluOS (there are a lot) and play the same audio throughout your home.

The M33 V2 is also a beast. It promises to deliver 200 watts of continuous power into 8 or 4 ohms, allowing it to drive a wide variety of high-end loudspeakers.

Sound improvements

But the V2 is the next evolution of the original M33 and, according to the brand, “raises the bar” in terms of audio quality.

First, the M33 V2 is integrated with MQA Labs’ new FOQUS and QRONO technologies, which the brand says ensures a more accurate signal conversion that preserves timing, nuance and spatial cues.

Second, it features a next-gen DAC and a new ADC (Analog-to-Digital Converter), the combination of which helps the M33 achieve ultra-low distortion and wider dynamic range.

“With the M33 V2, we’ve eliminated distortion not just in the traditional sense, but in the way human ears actually perceive sound timing,” says Cas Oostvogel, NAD’s Product Manager. “[It delivers] a listening experience that’s more nuanced, more accurate, and more emotionally engaging.”

A do-it-all amp

The M33 V2 is a highly versatile “just add speakers” streaming amplifier. In addition to BluOS, it supports streaming over Wi-Fi via AirPlay 2. It also features built-in Bluetooth, supporting aptX HD, in case guests want a more streamlined way of playing music on your system.

The V2 features a high-quality MM/MC phono stage and is designed for use with a turntable. According to the brand, the phono stage delivers “precision RIAA equalization, an infrasonic filter, and robust overload margin — rivaling stand-alone units.”

It features a wealth of digital and analog inputs, including an HDMI ARC input, which enables it to serve as the hub of your home theater system.
