Monitor Audio is a renowned British loudspeaker manufacturer with a history dating back to the early 1970s. Its Bronze Series has been its most affordable loudspeaker range since its initial introduction in 1999. Over the years, the company has released numerous upgraded models, and it has now just introduced the 7th-generation models.

Like its predecessors, the all-new Bronze Series 7G is a versatile loudspeaker range that can be configured for both home theater and stereo setups. However, each loudspeaker has been updated in several ways. According to the brand, the new range aims to set “a new benchmark for entry-level performance.”

Five loudspeaker models

The Bronze Series 7G consists of five different loudspeaker models: one bookshelf (Bronze 50 7G), one floorstanding (Bronze 300 7G), one center channel (Bronze Centre 7G), one on-wall (Bronze On-Wall 7G) and a pair of Dolby Atmos modules (Bronze AMS 7G), which can be placed on top of either bookshelf or floorstanding speakers.

One notable exception is that the range does not include a subwoofer. If interested in adding more bass to the system, Monitor Audio suggests adding one of its Vestra Series subwoofers, which were released earlier this year and come in three sizes: 10-inch, 12-inch and 15-inch.

For home theater enthusiasts, Monitor Audio offers three different configurations of Bronze 7G Series, two 5.1-channel options (one with and bookshelf speakers and one floorstanding speakers) and one 7.1.2-channel option.

With these multi-channel setups, Monitor Audio includes one of its Vestra Series subwoofers.

Upgraded acoustics, aesthetics

Monitor Audio claims that it has “gone back to the drawing board” with the Bronze Series 7G, updating each loudspeaker with new technologies and design elements to improve sound as well as elevate its visual appeal.

Headlining the upgrades is a new ceramic-coated aluminium magnesium (C-CAM) gold dome tweeter. Monitor Audio says it’s lighter, thinner and more rigid than previous incarnations, which “improves time alignment and allows a lower frequency to crossover for wider directivity.”

Additionally, the tweeter is now protected by an aluminium-etched hexagonal grille design. This makes the tweeter standout more. According it the brand, it’s “a focal point of the design, giving it a jewel-like quality.”

Pretty much everything about the loudspeakers has been improved, too.

Each loudspeaker has been upgraded with a new 6-inch mid-bass driver — which also utilizes the brand’s signature ceramic-coated aluminum magnesium technology — and significantly larger voice coils and magnets.

According to the brand, gives the new Bronze range “much higher power handling and high sensitivity and thus delivering far greater control and more accurate time responses.”

The loudspeakers now feature an 18 mm-thick plywood baffle, which Emily Hesselgrave, the brand’s Senior Product Designer, says “increases cabinet rigidity and strength, resulting in reduced resonance and improved acoustic clarity.”

And they’ve been equipped with more robust feet that have been “evolved” from ones used in its higher-end loudspeaker range, the Silver Series 7G. This promises to further eliminate unwanted vibrations and enhance the overall sound quality.
