Mark Levinson is a heritage American audio manufacturer with a history that dates back to the early 1970s. Based in Connecticut, the company is well-known for its ultra-premium (and ultra-expensive) hi-fi components, turntables, and, more recently, headphones.

Now, the audio brand has revealed its most high-end line of amplifiers to date: the 600 Series.

Elite audio, American made

The recently announced 600 Series comprises three audio components: the No. 626 preamplifier, the No. 632 stereo power amplifier, and the flagship No. 631 monoblock amplifier.

According to the brand, the 600 Series “redefines what’s possible from preamplifiers and amplifiers, delivering an experience of power, precision, and purity that is unmistakably Mark Levinson.”

The company states that each component is designed, engineered, and assembled in the United States.

Volcanic glass glow

Each component in the 600 Series is built upon the company’s proprietary Pure Path circuit architecture, which is a fully discrete, dual-mono layout that keeps the audio signal as “pure” as possible.

As for hardware, the components are built using the company’s Tectonic industrial design, which is sculpted out of solid aluminum and, according to the brand, accented “with red signature lighting that glows like embers beneath volcanic glass.”

The three 600s

The No. 626 is a preamplifier that the brand says is the “complete solution for every source.” It features a high-quality DAC that supports up to 32-bit/384kHz PCM and native DSD files. It has a built-in MM/MC phono stage and functions as an audiophile-grade headphone amp, too.

Both power amplifiers, the No. 632 (stereo) and No. 631 (power) have a Class A/AB operation. The smaller of the two, the No. 632, can function as a stereo or mono power amplifier, while the larger No. 31 is designed solely as a single-channel powerhouse.

“Whether driving the most demanding loudspeakers or resolving the most delicate passages,” reads the press release. “The 600 Series amplifiers deliver music with breathtaking dimensionality and grace.”

Price and availability

If you haven’t guessed, Mark Levinson’s 600 Series components are designed for serious audiophiles with seriously deep pockets. They range from $25,000 to $40,000.

The 600 Series will be available in the fourth quarter of this year.
