A Respected Hi-Fi Maker Just Unveiled New Elite-Level Loudspeakers

Fyne Audio is a Scottish hi-fi manufacturer renowned for its gorgeous and extremely high-end loudspeakers.

To give you an idea, the brand’s flagship F1 Series, which represents the “pinnacle” of its audio experience and engineering expertise, can run from $5,500 (for its F1-5 bookshelf speakers) to more than $50,000 (for its F1-12 floorstanding speakers).

Ahead of this week’s big audio trade show, High End Munich, the company is releasing a pair of elite-level loudspeakers that borrow technologies from its flagship F1 Series … but puts them in a (slightly) more affordable package.

Special treatment

Fyne Audio’s F704SP are the company’s all-new floorstanding loudspeakers — they’re essentially an upgraded versions of its existing F704 floorstanding loudspeakers, which go for $18,999/pair.

The F704SP are the largest and best loudspeakers in the company’s “SP” or “Special Treatment” line, joining the F701SP, F702SP, and F703SP, which all feature similar enhancements over their F700 series predecessors.

According to the brand, the F704SP “merges the dynamic force of the F704 with the refinement of the elite F1 Series.”

Inspired drivers

At the heart of the F704SP is its 300mm IsoFlare driver — which is “directly inspired” by the IsoFlare driver in its F1 series. It pairs a 12-inch multi-fibre bass/mid cone with a 3-inch titanium dome compression tweeter. There is then a second 300mm driver that delivers extended bass.

Additionally, the F704 loudspeakers feature an upgraded crossover network that “dramatically reduces compression effects and enhances detail resolution,” according to the brand. And they feature a robust aluminum plinth that is derived from its flagship F1-12S loudspeakers.

Lastly, the loudspeakers feature beautiful wooden cabinets, which are handcrafted in the UK from high-density European birch plywood.

Price and availability

Fyne Audio is debuting the F704SP loudspeakers at High End Munich this week. They’re expected to cost roughly $26,000 per pair.

They will be available in four finishes: piano gloss black, gloss white, gloss walnut or a natural walnut veneer.
