Elipson is a French hi-fi manufacturer that dates back to 1938 — in fact, it calls itself the “oldest French speaker brand.”

The company is probably best known for its futuristic-looking spherical loudspeakers, such as the Planet L and Planet M, but it manufactures traditional loudspeakers, such as its Prestige Facet range, as well.

Introduced in 2016, the Prestige Facet has been the company’s most affordable range of loudspeakers for most of the last decade — although its Horus range, which was released in 2023, has since undercut it — and it’s been very popular.

Fast forward to today, and, Epison has released a second generation of its popular Prestige Facet range. According to the brand, the new range is “designed for the most demanding audiophiles.”

10 speakers

The Prestige Facet II series of loudspeakers features ten different loudspeaker models, which can be configured in a traditional hi-fi system or as a surround sound home theater system that supports Dolby Atmos.

In the range, there are three floorstanding loudspeakers and two bookshelf speakers. For those looking to build a home theater system, there are also two center channel speakers, a Dolby Atmos module, a surround sound speaker and an LCR speaker.

Upgraded acoustics

Compared to their predecessors, the Prestige Facet II promises to sound significantly better.

All models have a completely redesigned passive crossover network that, according to the company, “results in better channel decoupling, a smoother frequency response and a more coherent, natural soundstage.”

Each loudspeaker has been upgraded with new internal wiring — it’s 2.25 mm² OFC (Oxygen Free Copper) — which the company says guarantees “optimum conductivity and loss-free signal transmission between crossover components and loudspeakers.”

The cabinets are more rigid, too, allowing each speaker to deliver more bass and sound better at high volumes.

A satin finish

The range has a new look, too. The front panel of each loudspeaker has a new satin finish that replaces the original gloss finish.

Elipson says the satin finish gives the speakers “a more modern, sober and smoother appearance for an evolution that is both aesthetically pleasing and sustainable.”

Each loudspeaker is available in three finishes: black, white or black/walnut.
