Teased earlier this summer, the collaboration between Bang & Olufsen, the high-end Danish hi-fi company, and Riva, the Italian luxury yacht maker, has finally been revealed.

The result is two of B&O’s current wireless home speakers, the Beosound 2 and Beosound A5. Only these special-edition models have been made with the shipbuilder’s distinct style.

And yes, you’re going to pay extra for these elevated looks.

The Beosound A5 Riva

The more eye-catching of the two speakers is the Beosound A5 Riva. It features an aluminum-and-wood combo that’s similar to B&O’s standard Beosound A5 speaker with a dark oak speaker cover. However, the Riva edition speaker features navy blue aluminum, and the handmade wooden cover is mahogany and maple — giving it a distinctly nautical look.

Aside from the design, the speaker is exactly the same as the 2023-released Beosound A5. It’s a 360-degree portable home speaker — with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth streaming capabilities — with a built-in battery that’s meant to be brought with you from room to room.

You can consider it a luxury alternative to the Sonos Move 2.

The Beosound 2 Riva

B&O’s 2023-released Beosound 2 (3rd-generation) — an updated version of the 2016-released original — has gotten a Riva makeover too, although it’s less noticeable.

The distinctly designed home speaker looks basically the same, with a thick aluminum shell, except instead of black, gold, or natural (silver), the Riva edition speaker is double anodized in navy blue. The floating control wheel also features Riva’s signature blue aquamarine line. Obviously, the “Riva” logo is located in the center, too.

As far as sound, the Riva edition is the same home speaker as the Beosound 2 (3rd-generation). It’s a high-end 360-degree speaker with a wealth of wireless streaming (both Wi-Fi and Bluetooth) streaming capabilities. Unlike the Beosound A5, the Beosound 2 isn’t portable and needs to be powered at all times.

Price and availability

Naturally, these special edition speakers are going to cost extra.

Bang & Olufsen’s normal Beosound A5 can cost as low as $1,299 (if bought with the weave speaker cover), although the model that the Riva edition version is most similar to (with a dark oak wooden speaker cover) and goes for $1,499. The Beosound A5 Riva costs $2,599.

The third-generation Beosound 2 goes for $3,499, while the Beosound 2 Riva will run you an extra two grand. It costs $5,499.

The Riva editions of the Beosound A5 and Beosound 2 Riva are available now on Bang & Olufsen’s website.
