And yes, it looks like an absolute stunner.

A few months ago, Bang & Olufsen restored and re-released one of its most iconic turntables, the Beogram 4000, which was initially released in the early 1970s.

It was a collaborative effort with Saint Laurent, the luxury French fashion brand, and it was unique because the two took the original turntables and modernized them with updated components and new wood and metal elements. Only 10 were made and they were priced at a cool $35,000.

Fast forward to today, and the famed Danish audio maker is doing something similar with another one of its vintage turntables: the Beogram 3000. Only this time, it’s not a joint effort, and they’re going to make them (slightly) more attainable.

A 1985 revival

The Bang & Olufsen Beogram 3000c is a restored and modernized version of the company’s Beogram 3000, which was first released back in 1985.

The turntable has B&O’s tangential tonearm, which was first featured on the Beogram 4000, which stays perfectly perpendicular to the record at all times. (The tonearm is fully automated to move inward as the record is played.)

“The Beogram 3000 brought Bang & Olufsen’s pioneering tangential tracking technology into a more compact and electronically automated form,” reads the company’s press release. “Its floating appearance and refined control panel made it a design icon of its
time.”

Vintage turntables, modern craftsmanship

The Beogram 3000c is the newest addition to Bang & Olufsen’s Recreated Classics series, which also includes the Beogram 4000c.

Like others in the series, these aren’t brand-new turntables — Bang & Olufsen procured vintage models of the Beogram 3000 and has updated them. This way, the Beogram 3000c preserves the original turntable’s design while elevating it with modern craftsmanship.

According to the brand, the turntable features a precision-machined solid walnut back cover, a new aluminium control panel, a dust lid, fabric cables, and a future-ready pickup cartridge. Many of the original aluminum parts have been remanufactured (and “finished in pearl-blasted and brushed treatments”) at Bang & Olufsen’s Factory 5 in Denmark.

Paired with stereo speakers

Bang & Olufsen isn’t selling the Beogram 3000c by itself, but rather including it in the Beosystem 3000c. This “system” pairs the Beogram 3000c with the company’s high-end wireless active speaker system, the Beolab 8, which goes for $7,200.

Both the wireless speakers and the turntable have matching walnut lamellas and pearl-blasted aluminum shells. Together, Bang & Olufsen claims to deliver a “deep, dynamic sound,” whether you’re listening to vinyl or streaming audio directly to the speakers.

Limited to 100

Like with the Beogram 4000c, which was limited to just 10 models, Bang & Olufsen’s Beosystem 3000c isn’t going to be mass-produced.

In fact, only 100 sets, which will be individually numbered, will be sold.
