Some of the Best Desktop Speakers Just Got Even Cooler

Audioengine’s A2+ powered speaker system has been one of our favorite computer speaker sets for years. And earlier this year, it made them even better.

Specifically, it released new and improved versions, featuring an upgraded DAC, support for 24-bit audio (wired) and Bluetooth aptX HD, and a USB-C input on the back, making them easier to connect to today’s laptops and desktops.

And now they’ve introduced a new limited-edition colorway that makes them just a little cooler.

A new matte finish

At launch, Audioengine offered its A2+ powered speaker system in three colors:  satin black, high-gloss white and high-gloss red. But it has since introduced two new options, matte blue and matte green, as part of the company’s “Color of the Year” initiative.

And now, to celebrate its 20th anniversary, the Texas-based audio company is introduced a sixth option: matte orange.

Only 250

According to the brand, all matte orange units are hand-painted, but they will be an extremely limited quantity. In fact, they’re only selling 250 of them.

Due to their extremely limited quantity, Audioengine is currently selling them exclusively on its website.

Other than the new colorway, it’s the same new A2+ powered speaker system that was introduced earlier this year. It’s a plug-and-play system that’s extremely versatile; in addition to its 3.5mm and USB-C jacks, it has digital and analog inputs and supports Bluetooth streaming.

Price and availability

The Audioengine A2+ powered speaker system in the matte orange finish is available now from the company’s website.

It costs $279, which is the same price as the color options.
