Welcome to another installment of Staff Picks. Each week, we select our favorite pieces out of the gear we’re testing — mainstays in our kits, as well as items on our wish lists. It’s a sneak peek at the gear we’re testing and what we’re stoked on. Have something you think we should check out? Or just want to say hi? Shoot us an email.

North Sails Collection Raymond Jacket

The North Sails Collection brings 60 years of sailmaking expertise to high-performance items made to resist wind and water, and the Raymond Jacket is the line’s best transitional jacket. The breathable softshell is water-resistant and has fully taped seams, a double foil-lined hood, two front pockets and elasticated cuffs. It can be worn as an outer layer for a bit of insulation in mild weather, or as a mid-layer under a coat in inclement weather. The flexible softshell construction won’t restrict movement, and the breathable fabric will keep you cool while you’re on the go. – Presented by North Sails

Stio Pinedale Pant

Spring doesn’t just mean rain; it also means it’s time to tackle outdoor projects you put off from last winter. Stio makes a great pair of work pants, and the Pinedale is light enough for warmer weather, water resistant, and tough enough to withstand the hardest day of brush-cutting.

Chaco Customized Z/2 Sandal

I’d tell you that I wear these sandals because they’re undoubtedly the most versatile things I’ve ever slipped onto my feet. My first pair stayed with me for nearly five years and went on all sorts of wild adventures — canoe trips, jungle treks, day-long disc-golf sessions. I’d tell you I wear them because they’re basically the same thing as a bulletproof hiking boot, minus the leather and laces and tongue. But really, I wear them because they’re a dirtbag status symbol. If you own a pair of Chacos — especially a custom pair — you’re part of the gang. (Elite gang members who give no fucks often rock ’em with wool socks).
