Based in New York City, Casper Sleep is largely responsible for the rise of the mail-order mattress. In 2014, the startup sold over $1 million worth of mattresses in its first 28 days; in 10 months, it had made over $20 million; today, that number has surpassed $100 million. Funders include fashion designer Steven Alan, Leonardo DiCaprio and Adam Levine — all believers that Casper has the potential to upend a $14 billion industry with a simple, but potent idea: that buying a quality mattress should be both affordable and convenient.

With its mattress game down, the company has expanded its offerings to include pillows, sheets and even bed foundations. But this year, the company broadened further with an ambitious new product that distinguishes it among a growing sea of mail-order mattresses companies: a dog bed. The Casper Dog Mattress is the result of 460 hours of testing over 11 months, the company claims. Made of memory foam and support foam, the dog bed also features a removable cover that can be machine washed and sewn-in pockets that hide metal zippers, which can scratch floors. What you have, then, isn’t just something that’s affordable and convenient. You have a dog bed that outperforms every other example ever made. Bravo, Casper. Bravo.
