David de Rothschild has traversed both the North and South Poles, sailed the ocean in a raft made of water bottles and explored the far reaches of the globe. As he launches his brand, The Lost Explorer, he is also trying to get the World Charter for Nature re-tabled at the United Nations.
The Lost Explorer’s clothing line put exhibits a strong reverence for nature with natural dyed organic cotton and hemp-blend tees ($65) and a merino-wool-and-cotton blend suit jacket ($495). Rothschild has worked with Schoeller Textiles in Switzerland for an upcoming collection that features cork wool — a water-resistant, stain-resistant, breathable fabric that acts as a natural alternative to Gore-Tex. Proven by firsthand experience traveling the globe, this collection is an accessible new take on sustainability and responsible manufacturing.
