Wolverine introduced its first customization service in an easy-to-use online platform that allows people to design their own 1000 Mile Boots. It is similar to what brands like Nike, New Balance and Timbuk2 offer consumers, but the online platform is unique to the boot world.
The aptly named Wolverine Workshop allows customers to choose from a range of Horween leathers and Charles F. Stead suedes for the quarter, vamp, heel, tongue and footbed. Other customizable features include outsoles, eyelets, laces, upper stitch colors, welt stitch colors and monogramming. The boots are handmade in Wolverine’s factory in Big Rapids, Michigan, and are shipped to the customer within a month. With the Wolverine Workshop, the 130-year-old company can take advantage of current customization trends while staying true to the boots they truly make best.
