GoPro Hero5 Black

GoPro sits comfortably atop the action cam heap — but with its newest release, it proved it still has a few tricks up its sleeve.

GoPro invented the action camera market and — for now — it seems it’s destined to hold on to it. Despite financial trouble earlier this year, GoPro is still synonymous with ski vacations and helmet cams. And, with this year’s release of the new flagship Hero5 Black, they forged farther ahead of the pack.

The Hero5 stepped up the usability department by (finally) building in a two-inch touch display, voice control and 30 feet of water resistance (sans bulky housing). There’s also the baked-in stabilization that does a great job of smoothing out high-frequency jitters.

If you are in the market for an action camera (or 16), you’ll likely buy a GoPro. The good news is, with the launch of the Hero5 Black, GoPro avoided resting on their laurels and instead advanced action cam technology to improve both the user experience and image quality. Stoke on.
