Apple MacBook Pro

Apple cuts the weight, brightens the display and brings the heat — and the Touch Bar.

The name hasn’t changed, but the MacBook Pro certainly has. When Apple announced the new line in October 2016, it marked the first major redesign of the MacBook Pro since 2012. The new 13- and 15-inch Pros come with a bevy of upgraded features — an Intel Core i5 or i7 processor, multiple Thunderbolt 3 ports, a huge Force Touch trackpad, Intel’s Iris Graphics 550, and a thinner and lighter frame than the MacBook Air.

But there were two significant game-changing developments: Touch ID, a fingerprint reader allowing users to unlock their screens (just like your iPhone 7) or instantly/securely purchase items with Apple Pay; and the Touch Bar, a Retina Display multi-touch touchscreen that replaced the row of function keys and changes depending on the app you’re using. Once again, Apple forged ahead into an element no other major computer manufacturer has touched.
