Have you ever wanted to experience what weightlessness really feels like? Well, until the X Prize Foundation yields commercial results, if you have a spare $5,000 and an appetite for adventure, the Zero-G experience is a good bet. On board Zero G’s specially modified Boeing 727 known as G-Force ONE, baller thrill seekers can join the ranks of former notable passengers such as Buzz Aldrin, Stephen Hawking, and Martha Stewart, and experience around 8 minutes of total weightlessness.
Though we’re not physicists, we know that the aforementioned weightlessness is obtained without the need for space flight thanks to aerobatic maneuvers known as parabolas. Each maneuver provides around 20-30 seconds of weightlessness which is repeated 12-15 times over the course of the flight. In addition to total weightlessness, alterations to the standard parabolic maneuver are performed in order to simulate Lunar (one sixth your weight) and Martian Gravity (one third your weight). Flights leave primarily from Las Vegas, Cap Canaveral, and Titusville, FL, but occasionally are scheduled for other locations such as Seattle, LA, New York, and Washington DC. If money isn’t an issue though, charters are also an option.
